GREEN TECHNOLOGIES
As a Green Community, Pointe-Nord incorporates a wide range of sustainable initiatives. Although many of these may not be obvious to the naked eye, Pointe-Nord is built on a foundation of green technologies aimed at creating a healthier environment and reducing costs. These include:
- LEED certified buildings, starting with the first phase, ZUNI lofts.
- Energy efficient buildings that use renewable sources of energy (i.e. geothermal).
- Use of recycled materials to build roads and public infrastructure.
- A storm water management system that will reduce pressure on the municipality's storm water sewer network.
- Use of native and water resistant plants in landscaping and an irrigation system that reduces the water consumption and the use of pesticides.
- High energy efficiency lighting in public spaces.
